A beautiful cut and polished thunder egg from Queensland Australia. It contains agate enclosed in rhyolite. It is thought they formed from gas bubbles in lava that has been infilled with the agate. They are then weathered out of the surrounding rock.
One side has been polished and the other has been left rough.
Size of each half is approx 64mm x 50mm x 28mm
