Contains 6 hardness pens in a case. There is a protective plastic sheet on the front and back.The may be small scratches on the sides.
This Mohs hardness test kit is used to do a scratch test to held identify mineral rocks and gems.
Hardness’s 4-9 covers most of the rocks and gems people use in jewellery making.
You simply use one of the pen and lightly try to scratch a rock with it. If it doesnt scratch the stone go to the next highest pen till the rock can be scratched. The harness is then the number under the one that scratched the rock.
