Description
This 1/2-hard yellow brass round wire is ideal for creating jump rings, pendant bails, loops
and a myriad of components that embellish other findings; use it as practice wire before
wire-wrapping with precious metal wire. Round wire is the bread-&-butter of jewellery
making, and is useful for a wide variety of wire-working, -wrapping and -weaving
techniques. Hard wire is significantly work-hardened and, though it does not bend readily,
it stubbornly holds its shape after forming; it is ideal for clasps and hinges. Keep in mind
that hardness is changeable (by annealing or heat-hardening) and is relative among
metal types (each temper will feel and handle differently from one metal to another).
When finishing your pieces, also keep in mind that the harder the metal is, the brighter a
finish it will take.
Yellow brass, also known as cartridge brass, is ideal for providing a bright yellow metal at
a base-metal price.
