Beautifully slice of Wittenoom Banded Iron Jasper Haematite.
This banded iron has many different layers. The large section of jasper contains minute crystals of haematite.

Banded is thought to have formed when Iron oxides fell to the ocean floors as minerals like magnetite and hematite. The sediments accumulated in alternating bands on the ocean floors. These created the banded formations or BIF we now find.
The front is polished and the back is left rough.
All photos are taken with the rock dry.

We don't use oils or waxes to enhance our stones. We polish our stones by using finer and finer diamond polishing pads followed by different types of polishing oxide.
