Description
Golden shellac is used in faceting to hold stones on to the dop.
Shellac flakes are dissolved in alcohol or Methylated Spirits. Then the mixture is painted onto your stone and allowed to dry. Then you can attach it to your dop with heated wax on it without heating your stone.
It is more commonly used when faceting, but works just as well for cabbing.
Orange flake shellac can be heated to hold objects for chasing, engraving, or setting. Simply heat the shellac to hold components, once the shellac cools it will harden holding the item, simply apply heat to re position item or dissolve in alcohol to remove completely.
These high quality shellac flakes are also suitable for woodworking purposes. Shellac functions as a tough natural primer, sanding sealant and gloss varnish.
